We are standing in a place that was successively called Marktplatz (1850–1933), then in Czech Tržní náměstí (1933–1938). Subsequently, after the occupation of Sudetenland and during World War II, it was renamed Square of the SA (Platz der SA). From the end of the war until 1952 it was called President Beneš square, and since 1952 it has been called Mírové náměstí (Peace square).
