Stolpersteine, German for "stumbling stones", also referred to as "stones of the disappeared" in Czech, are memorial stones commemorating persons persected by the Nazi regime. The brass-coated cubes keep information about the victims right in front of the houses where they once lived.
Like other genocides, the genocide of all persons identified as Jews on our territory took place gradually, in several phases. The Jews were first legally defined on the basis of the so-called Nuremberg race laws, then they were visibly marked, deprived of all civil and other rights, separated from the rest of the population, and after several waves of hate propaganda they were murdered.
