Most as a Jewish ghetto

The medieval royal city of Most, before its final destruction, served filmmakers several times as a backdrop for a war-torn city, where it was no problem to blow up houses or entire streets for the camera.

While the shots of Most's streets in the famous film The Bridge at Remagen are relatively well known, it is little known that in the Czechoslovak-East German film Jacob the Liar, streets of Most played the role of a destroyed Jewish ghetto somewhere in occupied Poland. It even featured a Czech actor suspected by the State Security of being of Jewish origin, because he supposedly "looks Jewish".
