František Kohner became famous for his interest in the legal aspects of strikes and riots in the Most region caused by the global economic crisis. He took over the defense of all communist miners in more than 120 lawsuits, arguing that if mitigating circumstances are to be examined in the case of gendarmes firing live ammunition into a crowd, then the rioting poor deserve the same approach.

Later, JUDr. Kohner was granted general power of attorney to represent all communists in conflict with the law. He defended Senator Stránský, who was accused of urging workers to snatch weapons from gendarmes at the Duchcov viaduct, and took the case all the way to the Supreme Court.
