Brief biography of the witness:
Anita Schwarz was born as Anita Stransky in 1921 in Most. Her father was a well-known local lawyer, her mother was active in the field of social work with the needy, and she had a brother. After the occupation of the borderlands, she fled to France, hiding from the police, who were confining Jewish refugees to internment camps.
When the Nazis began deporting the internment camp inmates to their deaths, Anita illegally crossed the border into Switzerland, where she was interned in a makeshift refugee hostel in Brissag. Neither her father nor her brother survived the war. After the war, Anita emigrated to England, married in Canada, and eventually settled in the USA.
