The Kohners also fled to Prague, but managed to obtain the nearly thirty stamped documents needed to emigrate, including an invitation from their future employer and permission from the Gestapo.
They settled in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The once-famous lawyer, of course, could not practice law, so the couple became managers of a unique project called the Refugee Settlement Farm, an agricultural farm hosting refugees from Nazism. Many of them were teenagers and children rescued as part of the Kindertransport project.
