Tel Aviv, December 6, 1939 written in a history lesson in which I am bored
Dear Hajno,
I have received your letter and I was really glad and happy that you responded. What school do you go to? You write that you play football every day. We too, but the kids here cannot even kick the ball properly and I am the best player on the team - you know how I play. Hanka did not arrive, she will stay in Prague, she is learning to be a seamstress there. I speak quite some Hebrew now, and English too. If you have anyy British or other stamps, could you send some to me. I have become a passionate philatelist. Today is the first day of Chanuka and we play the "Pumpernickel house", in English. I also act in some minor role. Fritz Popper attends some vocational school here. And about Honza I have heard that he is in Prague.

I have a chance to write to you today, that is why I am writing to you. Soon it will be seven months since we saw each other. A lot of new things happened to me and surely to you too. I am in Tel Aviv only for 1 month. Before that we were in Haifa. I go to school, striving to learn Hebrew. I already speak it quite well. At school it is better here than in Most or in Prague. I am writing this letter in the Tanach lesson (Jewish history in the Torah). It is the hardest subject, so I am quite bored. This week Hana shall arrive. I am looking forward to that. I do not have friends here with whom I could talk normally. I shall congratulate you for your confirmation. What a pity I could not have been there. Does Honza Weinstein ever write to you? (His testimony will be one of the shorts guiding the users of the Most Walk - MS note). Do you know who is in Tel Aviv? Fritz Popper! Do you still play football? They do not play it here. Do you already speak perfect English? I do, just a bit. English is compulsory in the school here. Which school do you attend, with whom are you staying? Do you like it there?
