Marta Strudlová was born in May 1914 in Prague, her maiden name was Wohlmuthová.
She was an active member of Maccabi, at the end of 1939 she joined an illegal emigration transport to Palestine and crossed the border to Slovakia with the group. However, her transport never left Bratislava and the members of the emigration group were interned by the Hlinka Guard. Marta spent a year in internment, became seriously ill, then escaped from the hospital and crossed the border into Hungary. She lived to see the liberation under a false identity in Budapest.
