Jewish Prague

Helping in need

The nursery is mentioned in the Protectorate directory of the Jewish community, it was probably established as early as 1940.

The nursery was located in a former living space, an apartment. The first clients were children of refugees from Germany and the occupied Czech borderlands, whose parents could never be completely sure of their citizenship and who were not allowed to work legally as refugees.

What are nurseries used for today? How do they differ from this Jewish nursery from the time of the occupation?
