The Jews never completely disappeared from Brno, despite the efforts of the two totalitarian regimes that ruled our country during the twentieth century. Brno's Jews survived the Shoah and the Communists' efforts to solve the "Jewish question" by natural aging process combined with the emigration of youth. Of all the synagogues and prayer houses in the city, only one remains. Believers, and on major holidays even non-believing Jews, still pray there today.
