The Birthplace

When Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst was born on 8 June 1812, his parents ran a kosher eatery in their house on Křenova Street, which was sometimes referred to as a café. Cultural events, including musical numbers, were also said to have been held at the establishment. Heinrich's musical genius was supposed to have manifested itself at an early age. The family lived in the same house.

The house no longer exists, but a memorial plaque is placed on the house that was built on its site. In the picture below you can see how Ernst's family home looked when the Dani family bought it and ran the Austria café.
