The Stoessler siblings, Hugo and Alfred, were among the emigrants to the international city of Shanghai, surrounded by the Japanese occupation army. Both came from Olomouc, where their father Arnold and mother Růžena still lived.
In the picture you can see the envelope of the letter they sent home in August 1941. Like the people, this letter also travelled across Siberia, only in the opposite direction.
