Exploring traces of Jewish Olomouc

School in Hálkova Street

The deportation assembly point for the inhabitants of Olomouc and its surroundings who were labeled as Jews was the burgher school in Hálkova Street.

Here the deportees handed over the keys to their last residence and completed the bureaucratic process of total exclusion from human society. Their official documents recorded that they had "transferred their residence to Terezín", as the contemporary newspeak described the situation of deportation to death.

Five deportation transports were dispatched from Olomouc, designated AAf, AAg, AAm, AAo and AE 7. Only 294 of them lived to see the liberation.
