Unfortunately, the work of the firefighters went to waste. The German occupation authorities, in conjunction with the city authorities, decided to remove both the synagogue and the rabbi's house, which was completely untouched by the fire.
The symbols of the self-confident Jewish community in Olomouc were to disappear forever from public space and the Jewish community was ordered to remove them. At that time, many did not believe that, like the synagogue, the Jewish inhabitants of the town would be removed from the city.
The demolition of the synagogue began in the first days of November 1939 with the dismantling of the dome, after which the plaster was broken off and the walls were torn down.

Do you know of any other buildings in Olomouc that were demolished even though it was not necessary?
