Arnold Stoessler was one of the founding members of the Jewish community in Olomouc.
He was its secretary for many years, and at the same time he served as a synagogue cantor or chazan, a prayer leader. As the only living pupil in Moravia of the founder of the Viennese school of synagogue singing, Prof. Salomon Sulzer, he was a highly respected man. He was also recognized as a writer and held top positions in the association of Moravian-Silesian Jewish community officials.
He and his wife Růžena had three children: Alfred, Hugo and Elisabeth.
In the picture you can see Arnold Stoessler's signature on the minutes concerning the construction of the Olomouc synagogue and his portrait photograph published on the occasion of his seventieth birthday.
