Bishop János Simor Square


Biship János Simor Square was the main square in Sziget, with its denominational schools, church and beautiful houses. In 1944, however, it became the main square of the ghetto, the place where the Jews of Győr and the surrounding area who were deported to the barracks camp had to gather. A plaque on the wall of the former Catholic girls' school and convent reminds us of the tragic events.
