In the footsteps of the Jews of Győr

Information about the site

Throughout history, five different denominations have built their churches on this street, including the strengthened Jewish community, which bought land here in 1860 to raise a temple and a school. From this stop, you can see the imposing building of the Neolog synagogue, which is an indication of a once strong and large community. After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise, Jews moved to the city and assimilated into the local life in great numbers.
