Híd Street and the entrance to Bercsényi grove


At the first stop, personal recollections will help you learn about the daily life of the Jewish and non-Jewish communities living peacefully together in the heyday of the neighbourhoods. At the Híd Street station, you are now standing in the former bed of the Rábca River. This river separated the former Újváros from Sziget, which could accommodate the Jews expelled from the city as an independent community, so that they could play an important role in the life of Győr after the annexation of Sziget to the city.
