Baku 1990

In the 1980s, about 200,000 people out of the over 1 million inhabitants of Baku were Armenian. Between January 13-19, 1990, mass violence against Armenians broke out in Baku, Azerbaijan, killing Armenian victims.

According to witnesses, none of the representative authorities in Azerbaijan who were responsible for maintaining order in the city interfered with putting an end to the violence. These massacres resulted in the mass exodus of Armenians from the city.
