Khachkar Square is an integral part of the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex. This space comprises three khachkars or cross-stones, dedicated to the memory of Armenian victims killed in three major cities of Azerbaijan: Sumgait, Kirovabad, and Baku. These massacres took place between 1988-1990, and emphasized the continuity of atrocities committed by Azerbaijan against the Armenian population who lived there.
Every year, commemorative flowers are placed next to the three khachkars on April 24th, as well on the anniversary date of each massacre. Continue along this IWalk to learn more about these massacres and each khachkar.
