About the Interviewee

Sashur Kalashyan is an Armenian architect, born in Leninakan (Gyumri, Armenia) on May 20, 1936. In 1959, he graduated from Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. He has been involved with many architectural projects, including serving as the architect of the Armenian Genocide Memorial-Institute building with his wife, Ludmila Mkrtchyan (opened in 1995), and saved many historical buildings in Soviet Armenia and the Republic of Armenia. From 1961-1972, and 1995-up today, he has worked with ArmProject and is Head of Architectural Studio.
