About the Interviewee

Professor Richard G. Hovannisian was born on November 9, 1932, in Tulare, California. As a world-renowned historian Prof. Hovannisian has been recognized as one of the leading experts on Armenian history. He was the founder the Armenian Studies program at UCLA in the 1960s and created a seminar, in which students recorded and conducted interviews with Armenian Genocide survivors. Today, these audio-recorded interviews are a part of the USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive and are available for research and education. Prof. Hovannisian was interviewed by the USC Shoah Foundation on July 12, 2017, in Los Angeles, California.
