Other aspects of the NDH authorities’ anti-Jewish legislation

A series of legal decrees related to Jewish property were passed. All legal transactions between Jews and Jews and third parties were annulled. The practice of confiscating Jewish businesses under the pretext of sabotage was also legalized.

Jewish households were no longer allowed to employ staff, mostly women, and those employed had to pay severance pay.

At the beginning of June 1941, a whole series of legal acts were passed that destroyed the economic viability of the Jewish community. The legal provision on the mandatory declaration of assets of Jews and Jewish companies mandated the declaration of assets of individuals, as well as Jewish-owned companies.

  • Do you know what happened to Jewish property after World War II? Restitution as the return of property or its value to the person from whom the property was unlawfully taken (by theft, violence, illegitimate decisions) is still ongoing.
