In the footsteps of Pilsen Jews

Bar mitzvah celebration

Bar mitzvah is a Jewish religious ceremony, a transition ritual during which a Jewish boy becomes an adult man, a full member of the religious community.

After careful, roughly a year-long preparation, he himself reads part of the Hebrew text from the Torah scroll, i.e. the original text which is also commonly known as the “Five Books of Moses”, during a service at the synagogue.

He accepts the duty to keep all the religious commandments and receives blessings. This is followed by a celebratory feast and gift giving.
