The Avion Café

The Avion café and confectionery was one of the symbols of modern Český Těšín, a cosmopolitan city on the border.

In 1932, Rosalie Wiesner had it built next to her hotel. The modernist building was designed by the architect Michal Maximilián Scheer, the construction work was carried out by the local Těšín firm Nekvasil.

When the bridge in the immediate vicinity of the café was blown up during the retreat of Polish troops on September 1, 1939, the Avion building was also hit by the explosion. The Germans then had the rest of the building dismantled as Jewish property.
