Exploring the traces of Jewish Český Těšín

The Void

The Community synagogue was burned and destroyed in September 1939. Only one single photograph, of the interior of the main prayer hall, has been discovered so far. The photograph was found and identified by Mr. Henryk Wawreczka. Similarly, the Orthodox synagogue of the Machsike HaTorah Association at Alšova Street 7 was destroyed.

Several Těšín synagogue curtains have survived, which were taken to Ostrava during the occupation and later to today's Jewish Museum in Prague, but it is not clear in which of the houses of prayer in Český Těšín they were used to cover the ark with the Torah scroll, the text of the five books of Moses.

How is the existence of the municipal synagogue on the site commemorated today?
