The Jewish community of Český Těšín also included the Jewish population of Třinec and Jablunkov. It had a total of about 1200 members, besides rabbi Bass it also employed a religious teacher, a kosher butcher and several clerks, a separate association managed the Jewish school Talmud Torah, and there was also an orthodox school for the little ones called Cheder. Several charitable organizations were involved in the social life of the town, especially the burial brotherhood, the Bikur Cholim association for helping the sick, and there were also several Zionist, especially youth groups. Many young Jews embraced Czech culture and were active in purely Czech associations, Jewish children attended Czech schools.
