As you could read in the beginning of the IWalk, the events of the fall of communism led to the establishment of the Memento Park. Presumably, most of the statues would not be exhibited anywhere, if Memento Park had not received them. The designer of the Park, Ákos Eleőd, claimed about the mission of the Park:
“This park is about dictatorship, but at that very moment, when this statement can be said, written or built, the park is already about democracy. Because only democracy gives the opportunity to freely think about dictatorship… or even about democracy … or about everything else.”
In your opinion, does the Park fulfill the designer’s mission? Explain your answer.
