Éva Erdős talks about why she had to alter her career choice in the early 1940’s.
Éva Erdős was born in 1922, in Miskolc, Hungary, to a family with four children. Her father had a tailor's shop. Éva conducted her studies in Miskolc and wanted to be a fashion designer. Because of anti-Jewish measures, however, she could not continue her studies and had to start working at the age of 16. She learned to become a seamstress. She was forced into the Miskolc ghetto and her family was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. From there, she was transported to forced labour in Reichenau, Germany. From Reichenau, she was taken on a five day forced march to Parschnitz. She was liberated by the Soviet troops. From her family, Éva and her younger brother survived the Holocaust. Éva got married in 1947 and had three children. The interview was conducted in 2001 in Miskolc, Hungary.
