György Vidor recalls a memory of the rabbi from his town. Watch his testimony then read his biography.
György Vidor was born in Bonyhád, in 1922. He had two younger sisters. He went to the primary school in Bonyhád, then in 1932 he started high school. In 1940, after he graduated from high school, he moved to Budapest and went to law school. He was taken to perform forced labour in Hungary. In 1944 György’s family was deported. While performing forced labor, György became ill. After he recovered he was taken to the Budapest ghetto, where he was liberated in January1945. György is the only member of his family who survived the Holocaust. He moved back to Bonyhád, where he married, then moved to Pécs. He has one son and a granddaughter.
