After 1946, the commemoration of the Patria tragedy became a regular commemoration organized by the Jewish community in Prague at the memorial in the New Jewish Cemetery.

Although the story of the Patria allowed the communist regime to propagandistically portray Zionists as bloodthirsty murderers, even this commemoration was not allowed to take place in a public space, lest it be interpreted as a public endorsement of Zionism enabled by the failure of state surveillance.
