Perl-aktion

The picture shows one of the advertisements in German that informed the Jewish public about the activities of Mandler's office in Lützow Street and its branch in Olomouc.

The name "Perl Action" was based on the name of the main organizer of these illegal transports, William Perl.

Gradually, however, he built up such a network of contacts among the Nazis and smugglers that he decided to try to get as many young Jews as possible out of Europe through bribes paid to whoever could be bribed.

Perl managed to elude both the Gestapo and the British secret services, rescuing around ten thousand people.
