Edward Spett was born in Oświęcim in 1928 as Ignatz Spett. His parents ran a kitchen-furniture shop and a glazier’s shop. He survived the Sosnowiec Ghetto and the concentration camps: Blechhammer, Sakrau, Ohrdruf, Gräditz, Faulbrück, Gross Rosen, Klettendorf and Buchenwald. After the war he emigrated to the USA - first to New York, then to Detroit, Michigan, eventually ending up in Wyckoff, New Jersey. He worked as a salesman in a company that sold carpets. He was interviewed on Nov 14, 1996 in Wyckoff, New Jersey, U.S.A.
