Jewish Street

The Jewish Street was the center of Jewish religious and social life in Oświęcim between the second half of the 16th century and the Holocaust. The street was most likely a remnant of the former Jewish quarter of Oświęcim. In its center stood the synagogue, later known as the Great Synagogue, together with the most important institutions of the community: religious schools, houses of prayer, and the offices of numerous Jewish organizations.
