The interview with Lawrence Bacow was conducted on 20 July 2019 in Cambridge, Massachusetts by the USC Shoah Foundation. He is the son of survivor Ruth Bacow, née Wertheim, the only one who survived the transport of 14 September 1942. The former Harvard president discovered the gravestones of some of his ancestors on one of his visits to Londorf.
Watch the testimony and answer the question.
- What significance did it have for him to see these names?
- How does the connection to the names and history of his ancestors influence his own identity and understanding of family?
