Jewish life in Londorf

WWII memorial plaque

On the wall of the “Backhaus” close by, you will also find a memorial plaque for the persecuted and murdered families during National Socialism and World War II, unveiled on 9th November 2019.

Here is a translation of it: In memory of our citizens of Jewish faith and in commemoration of their fate suffered through injustice and violence in the years 1933-1945.

  • What are your thoughts on the two memorial plaques?

  • How do they differ and what are their similarities?

  • How does the placement of memorial plaques for both World War I and World War II victims in the same location may affect our remembrance and comprehension of these significant events?
