Rescuing and going underground: Jewish „U-Boote” and their helpers

Some Jews went into hiding or helped others hide – thus saving lives. They remained in churches or apartments for weeks or years in order to save themselves or save each other from repression and deportation. They called themselves "U-Boote" – a German term for submarine.
