The Jewish school in Ostrava was founded in 1863, and from 1879 it included a kindergarten. The school moved several times and as the Jewish population of the city grew, so did the number of pupils. From 1880, the school was located in Kostelní Street, first in house number 24, then in house number 22. From 1882, the school taught subjects both in German and in Czech.
