Jewish Life in the Second District of Vienna before the Shoah

Stones of Remembrance

Walking to Glockengasse you saw stones of remembrance in the ground. In this neighborhood there are a lot to be found. This is because a) Jews have lived in this district for centuries and b) the National Socialists set up “Sammelwohnungen” (Collection Flats) here. Jews had to live in overcrowded Collection Flats before they were deported and killed.

In front of Glockengasse 25 you'll find a plaque on the ground; 93 Jewish men, women and children lived here before they were deported and killed.

Please, take a moment to honor their memory.
