Jewish Life in the Second District of Vienna before the Shoah

The Nestroyhof Theatre

This neighbourhood was once the vibrant hub of Viennese theater. Directly in front of you stands the Nestroyhof. Take a moment to admire its facade. The decorations and curves were considered modern around 1900, defining the style called Art Nouveau.

Today this theater is named “Nestroyhof / Hamakom." “Ha Makom” means “the space” in Hebrew. This theatre space works towards connecting Jewish culture with modern theatre.
