Brief Biography of the Witness

Jana Urbanová was born in 1937 in Teplice, her father was a doctor. After the occupation of Sudetenland, the family had to flee inland. Her mother was legally an "Aryan", her father was a Jew. Jana was considered a "Jewish half-breed." Thanks to her "Aryan" mother not divorcing her father, Jana was deported to the Terezín ghetto only at the very end of the war and lived to see the liberation. Interview was recorded in 1996 in Krupka, Czech Republic.
