The uprising in the Warsaw ghetto was one of many actions which Jews took against the German invaders. The uprising broke out on 19th April 1943. Several hundred Jewish soldiers fought until 16th May. The uprising would not have lasted for so long without the support of the civilian population, among whose tasks was to prepare bunkers. The bunker at Miła 18 was surrounded by German troops and it was there where Mordechaj Anielewicz, leader of the Jewish Fighting Organisation, and many other Jewish soldiers died.
