This entry and the next six steps were used by the men, while women could access the building through a separate entrance on the right and listen to the service at a place reserved for them. This houses the local history section of the library today. The building has beautifully preserved its function, as the interior was designed with utmost care. The 110-year old synagogue serves as a library today, where the original spaces were unchanged and the library functions were harmonized with the synagogue space. Thus they could keep most of the original furnishings: the gallery, the Torah ark and its texts, the paintwork, the red marble hand-washing bowl and the collection box built in the wall. A pulpit for a chorus and an organ was later added to the ladies’ section, the chandeliers were enlarged following the original design, while the layout and the mechanism of the windows are the same as the original ones to the smallest detail.
