A Neighborhood of Opportunity


The intersection of Kensington Ave. and Dundas St. is located near Mr. Solnitsky’s former store, where Andy worked during high school. Mr. Solnitsky, who was an observant Jew, sold sweaters, cardigans, underwear, socks and children’s wear. Like many young people at the time, especially those from immigrant families, Andy juggled a job while pursuing his education.

Today, the neighborhood is home to many businesses which continue to employ immigrant families and their descendants.
