“Whoever saves a life, saves the world entire” reads the inscription written on the ring given by prisoners to Oskar Schindler in this place at the end of the war. Yet how difficult is it to save a life?

In this building, a concentration camp was built to save Jews, rather than exterminate them. Oskar Schindler had to rebuild the factory in Brnenec from the ground up. He had machines, tools and materials sent from Emalia factory in Poland in 250 wagons for arms production equipment. The SS provided 100 guards under the command of SS Obersturmführer Josef Leipold, whom the prisoners feared.
