Schindler’s Ark, Brnenec

The Arks Foundation

This small area around us can tell a lot about the past. It can also tell us about the future and the impacts of the choices we make. Brnenec has been home to the production of textiles for over 150 years. During World War II, this space witnessed a story that changed the world. You are invited now to visit seven stops which reveal the past and the future of Brnenec.

This tour guides you through Schindler’s Ark, where 1,200 Jews on Schindler’s List were saved. Oskar and Emilie Schindler created a concentration camp in Brnenec (in what is now the Czech Republic), where Jews were rescued rather than exterminated. Now, one of the descendants of the original owners of the factory is striving to restore textile production here and create a modern museum that will spread the legacy of survivors to today's generations.
