Teréz Virág was born on October 8, 1930 in Budapest, Hungary. As a child, she was taken to a yellow star house with her family. She was taken to the Budapest ghetto, where she was liberated in January 1945. After the war she studied psychology. As a psychoanalyst, she studied transgenerational trauma and found that second and third generation survivors of trauma inherit repressed trauma. She founded a psychotherapy clinic called KÚT, where she led discussion groups with other survivors, their children, and their grandchildren. The interview was conducted in 1999 in Budapest, Hungary. Teréz died in 2000.
