Jewish Pilsen at the time of the Shoah

Liberators

Liberators

Náměstí republiky

On 5 May 1945, a popular uprising against the occupiers broke out in Pilsen. On 6 May, around 8 o'clock in the morning, the first soldiers of the American 16th Armored Division entered Pilsen; infantry arrived in the early evening. The last outbreaks of resistance of German soldiers were soon destroyed, for example in the Gestapo building on the Radbuza embankment. Pilsen was liberated.

During this stop, we will see unique photographs of an American Jewish soldier coming originally from Pilsen and listen to the memories of the liberators.
