Jewish Pilsen at the time of the Shoah

Lining up for transport - photo 1

The first set of photographs captures the sorting of the deportees into groups which were then gradually escorted past the photographer. They have placards with their transport numbers on their necks. Although the photos look similar, they capture different people, different faces, leaving forever from the place that was their home. In most of the photographs, behind the fence near the Sokol organization’s building, the following group of deportees can be seen, already lined up at the gate with a V poster, symbolizing the presumed Nazi victory in the war.
