The representative building of the Přívoz synagogue used to stand on this site. It was consecrated and handed over to the local Jewish temple association on 30 October 1904.
In 1924, the city of Přívoz became part of Moravian Ostrava, but the synagogue continued to be used by the locals, just like other synagogues of the so-called Greater Ostrava, originally built in independent municipalities.
The building was burnt down on the night of 10 June 1939 and its ruins were then removed. Only a vacant site remained.
The photograph comes from the collections of the Jewish Museum in Prague.
Can you pinpoint the exact place where the synagogue used to stand?
